Sugaring at Westchester County Parks

It’s sugaring season in Westchester County! We have events across the county that will give you a hands-on tree tapping experience as well as opportunities to learn about the process and even taste nature’s sweet reward: maple syrup!
Saturday, March 7
- Maple Saturday at Lenoir Preserve Nature Center, noon to 2 p.m.
How is maple syrup made from maple trees? All ages can join us for demonstrations, tastings, community tables and an optional $5 pancake lunch; indoor/outdoor event. - Maple Munchies: For Kids at Muscoot Farm, 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Syrup isn’t just for pancakes! Come learn about all the ways to use maple syrup in the kitchen while cooking up a maple-themed culinary treat! This cooking class will be offered in Muscoot’s Activity Building for $20 per person, for kids ages 8+. Treats may range from sweet to savory, so bring your appetite with you! Register for event.
Saturday, March 14
- (Un)Tap-a-Tree at Muscoot Farm, 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Help us finish the sugaring season by collecting the last bit of sap and un-tapping the trees! In this private, hands-on tour, participants will learn about the tapping process of maple-sugaring – in reverse! Sessions will take place every half hour and are limited to one group for each timeslot. $25 per group of six. Also: March 15. Register for event.
Saturday, March 21
- Sugaring Off Party at Trailside Nature Museum, noon to 3 p.m.
Join us for our annual sugaring off party!! We will have pancakes and other delectable goodies along with our homemade maple syrup. There will be live tapping demonstrations, and the sugar house will be open to show you how we boil down the sap we have collected to make syrup. The kids will love the maple sugar cotton candy, and we will have music as well. Event is free; registration is required.
