    The Annual African-American Festival Returns to Kensico Dam Plaza Sunday June 22

    June 12, 2025 – Join us Sunday, June 22, from noon to 6 p.m. at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla for the 39th Annual African-American Festival, celebrating Africans, Caribbeans and African-Americans — a festive showcase of culture, community, and connection. This year’s theme is creating space and building bridges.
     
    The festivities will feature live entertainment including line dancing, and presentations of awards and scholarships. All six hours will feature drama, poetry, ethnic foods, health and educational vendors, free health screenings, cultural arts and crafts, and more.
     
    Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins said: “The day will burst with vibrant music, exciting dances, delicious food and colorful creations. Attendees from any background can experience rich traditions, joyful energy and cultural pride. It will build a strong sense of community and generate an unforgettable spirit.”
     
    Westchester County Parks Commissioner Kathy O’Connor said: “These festivals commemorate and honor the diversity of human societies, as well as promote inclusivity, respect and understanding across different communities. Adults and children alike can look forward to stimulating occasions.” 
     
    The festival will be held rain or shine. Seating is informal; bring blankets or folding chairs for seating on the lawn. Coolers aren’t allowed. Admission and parking are free.* Overflow parking will be available at the Valhalla and North White Plains Metro-North train stations, with free shuttle service to and from the Dam from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

    • Hispanic, Sunday, July 13, noon to 6 p.m., Kensico Dam Plaza, Valhalla
    • Irish-American, Sunday, July 13, noon to 6 p.m., Ridge Road Park, Hartsdale
      *Admission: $5 adults; free ages 14 and under
    • Italian, Sunday, July 20, noon to 6 p.m., Kensico Dam Plaza, Valhalla
    • Arab, Sunday, July 20, noon to 6 p.m., Ridge Road Park, Hartsdale
    • India, Sunday, Aug. 3, noon to 6 p.m., Kensico Dam Plaza, Valhalla
    • Jewish, Sunday, Aug. 17, noon to 6 p.m., Kensico Dam Plaza, Valhalla
    • Muslim, Sunday, Aug. 24, noon to 6 p.m., Kensico Dam Plaza, Valhalla
    Kensico Dam Plaza is located at the north end of the Bronx River Parkway, in Valhalla.
    Ridge Road Park is located at 287 Ridge Road, Hartsdale. 
     
    Please be advised that on June 22, and July 13 and 20, the Parkway will be closed from 8 a.m. to noon. Kensico Dam Plaza can be accessed via Route 22, from the north or south.
