Lasdon Explorers Summer Program

Experience the diverse and beautiful ecology of Lasdon Public Gardens with the Lasdon Explorers Summer program. The camp will connect children, ages five to 12, to nature through curiosity-led exploration, art, crafts and games. Each session introduces campers to a different theme with age appropriate activities and creative projects.

Three-days-a-week, one-week sessions are offered Tuesday, July 7 through Thursday, July 23. Camp day is 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. $175 per camper, per week for Westchester County residents; $225 per camper, per week for non-Westchester County residents.

Dates and Weekly Themes

Ages 5 - 8, Garden Friends

  • Week 1: Magnificent Meadows – Tuesday, July 7 through Thursday, July 9
    Discover the curious critters who call a meadow home. Plant, tend and notice wildlife, while we play amongst the flowers and grasses with storytelling and games
  • Week 2: Fantastic Frogs – Tuesday, July 14 through Thursday, July 16
    Look close and wonder about life in the water! Experiment and play, scoop and inspect pond life while learning about our local watersheds.
  • Week 3: Wild Woods – Tuesday, July 21 through Thursday, July 23
    Wander together and notice the wildlife in the woodlands. Explore the trails through games, activities and gardening experiments.

Ages 9 - 12, Garden Stewards

  • Week 1: Art in Nature – Tuesday, July 7 through Thursday, July 9
    Connect to nature, find inspiration. Together we will explore a variety of mindful art techniques, while being immersed in the landscape.
  • Week 2: Gardening in Miniature – Tuesday, July 14 through Thursday, July 16
    Dive into all things mini while learning about gardening. Design and construct props to create a unique garden scene.
  • Week 3: Whimsical Garden Structures – Tuesday, July 21 through Thursday, July 23
    Support wildlife while practicing engineering design. Build with sustainable materials, creating an enchanting fairy house installation while learning about habitat in the understory.
